An updated version of the bookkeeper, using the
computerized accounting system that was adopted by Okanogan County last
year. The Financial Records Technician is responsible for accounts
payable and cash receipting for the three divisions within the Sheriff's
Office and five miscellaneous funds that function under the Sheriff's
Office direction. This accounting system has improved the efficiency of bill
paying and record keeping in conjunction with the Auditor's and
Treasurer's offices.
Staff members who need to make training and business
trips are assisted by the Financial Records Tech. Her responsibility is
to arrange for accommodations, issue credit cards and meal allowances to
keep the expenses within county guidelines.
Callers to the administrative office, or option #6,
are greeted at this reception desk. Incoming calls are frequent because
of the public's perspective that the Sheriff's Office is a source of
help and information. The often-heard comment, "I'm not sure I have
the right number, but . . . " is answered by the office staff members as
cordially and helpfully as possible, in spite of the busy work at hand.
Although Sheriff Rogers is a public servant
and wants to make himself available to his constituency, busy schedules
require appointments to be pre-arranged. The receptionist serves as the
liaison so that personal meetings can be arranged for the convenience of
both the Sheriff and the public.
