AMBER ALERT SUCCESS

On 05-20-09 at around 6:00 PM the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office put out an Amber Alert for a two week old baby and his mother. The case involved Gretchen A. Pier, 18, of Tonasket and her two week old son.

The two week old infant was diagnosed with a medical condition after birth which required careful attention or could result in grave circumstances for the child. On 05-18-09 a Motion and Order was signed by a Judge in Okanogan County Superior Court placing the child in specialized foster/medical care.

Since the 18th no one had seen Pier or the child and when she did not show at a scheduled medical appointment on 05-20-09 at the University of Washington. The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office was contacted about the situation.

The Amber Alert was put out at around 6:00 PM and at around 9:00 PM Pier and his son were located in Sedro Woolley Washington. According to the investigation Pier had seen herself on TV and turned herself in. The child was taken into Protective Custody and was taken to an area hospital. Pier was picked up by Sedro Woolley Police Department and then later released to her parents.

I can't say enough about the Amber Alert System. It works incredible well and brought this case to quick end.
